DARK SOULS™ III

I believe MSAA would break the graphics and the game doesn’t utilize tesselation. Also your changes are more geared towards crippling system performance rather than improving it.

So far doing this has stopped me from being sent offline for framerate issues, but I still get low fps. I’m totally okay with low fps as long as I can still play online so thanks!

No change for me.
I have a R9 390 and no matter what resolution, graphics settings, or window mode I run the game with I get the same amount of frames. I’ve over clocked my card and everything and the same.
I’ve been wondering if it’s a CPU issue rather than that of a GPU on. I have an FX-8350. Not sure if the game likes all of the cores or not.

I’m curious to what kind of performance you get. I have an R9 390 and an Intel i5-4690K. For the most part, this game runs 60 fps, but then I get into areas like Lothric Castle, Smouldering Lake and Archdragon Peak and my framerate drops into the 40’s for entire rooms.

It’s something I cannot even fix by lowering graphical settings. Max, High, Low. same thing. FPS never gets better (or worse) I ran Memtest to see if it was some hardware issues. Nothing wrong with my RAM. I’m using Catalyst 15.11.1 because Crimson 16.4.1 cause my fans to not spin.

I’ve got the 8350 cpu and R9 390x 8gb card, also 16gb ram. Pretty much everywhere in Dark souls 3 I get 45 FPS average.. This is with textures at max and everything else on high. I’m happy enough with this result.

Also I use the steam Community-Guide ReKindled Reshade graphics mod. The game is so dull looking without it.

In my years of experience with PC Hardware, all I can say is that using those kind of programs do more worse than good, usually you’re better off with just playing the game by itself with no other programs, even if they are programs of the hardware manufacturer.

On the other hand, setting the priority to ‘High’ or even ‘Real Time’ should do the trick by itself. The CPU requirements of this program are too damn high, specially for AMD CPU’s.

I5 2500k @ 4.5ghz
R9 390 OC’d 1150/1700.

Game runs 60fps max settings, 1080p in most areas. There are a few spots that wont run 60fps regardless of the settings. Like spots in Archdragon Peak are the same FPS minimums on lowest possible settings @ 1080p vs max settings 1800p.

I used to have microstuttering every 10-15 secs in the game, and one of the previous patches seemed to have fixed that. The game was basically unplayable with the microstuttering every 10 secs.

This game doesn’t really tax my GPU at all @ 1080p. Nearly identical performance @ 1080p & running 1800p using VSR.

DS2 SOTFS ran considerably better than DS3. DS2 ran 1080p with no issues at all, and stayed pegged at 60fps with a freaking Radeon 6970 GPU. Or about 1/3 the GPU power of my R9 390. No CPU bottleneck either.

AMD A8-6410 APU with AMD radeon R5 Graphics 2.00 GHz
